hello!! my name is catherine. i am a 19 year old emo girl from the great plains of midwest america ^_^ i study materials engineering and love science!!!
i am a ditz with a penchant for chaos and a flair for drama. i am deeply fascinated by psychology and the mysteries of the human mind. i like exploring and discussing altered states of consciousness and the realm of the paranormal (at least in fiction, like serial experiments lain :P). i am an avid gamer and i love music, especially the sounds that echo the depths of human emotion. i also like anime :)
my lack of interest in the boring world is remedied by my massive fixation on all things scientific. what else are apes to do but study themselves and the world around them? i am a junior undergraduate and my main field of study is materials engineering. i have a particular interest in photonics, and my research interest concerns the use of data science and AI for materials engineering.
i have a less intense fixation on drug pharmacology and write a lot about interesting drugs. i am excited to see the next wave of psychedelic research begin (likely from the sidelines :P) as i have been following that sphere for some time now. i have a strong interest in NMDA receptor antagonists and admire biochemists who understand how and why they work, in particular Dr. Jason Wallach.
my interest in music is pretty extensive, but i'd say my main passion is post-hardcore. it was through this genre that i was introduced to music with screaming vocals, which i've grown to love in time. my favorite bands include Calculator, Title Fight, Merchant Ships, and Oakwood. i'm a big fan of 90s and early 2000s screamo, i love the raw emotion and energy of it. i enjoy exploring the subgenres and variations within the genre.
i also really like screamo, especially bands from the 90s and early 2000s. i think that "emo" is a rather vague term and many of these bands get lumped into the category for simplicity's sake, but who cares, it's their music that matters :3
i also really like incelcore/epunk, despite its problematic community and rather cringeworthy name :P. i blame this on my upbringing music-wise being basically the same as all of these artists, i mean, my spotify likes are basically all shared with the late Ian Mockler ("Lil Watermark", 2004-2024) whose music i adore!! some bands i like include Gezebelle Gaburgably, NEET, and bleeder.
