MCR defined a generation of angst, blending theatricality with raw punk energy to create anthems for the misunderstood.

I started listening to them when I was 13 and it completely changed my music taste. Their concept albums are incredibly detailed, and Gerard Way's vocal delivery is unmatched in its desperate, manic energy. The Black Parade is still a masterpiece that holds up to this day.

Seeing them live was a bucket list moment that I will never forget.

With clean, intertwining guitars and irregular time signatures, they created a deeply nostalgic and melancholic sound that birthed a genre.

Never meant is basically the anthem of midwest emo at this point. The trumpet parts added such a unique texture to their sound that you didn't hear anywhere else in the scene.

Their first EP and LP are essential listening for anyone getting into the genre. It's music meant for late night drives and introspection.

Orchid were pioneers of the emoviolence sound, combining the speed and dissonance of powerviolence with the emotional intensity of emo.

Chaos incarnate, but beautifully structured. Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! remains one of my favorite heavy records of all time. The lyrics are incredibly poetic despite the abrasive delivery.

They packed more emotion and aggression into 45-second songs than most bands do in an entire career.
